With Oak Mountain State Park in our backyard and Alabama’s Sipsey Wilderness Area nearby, those who enjoy the outdoors won’t be disappointed in Birmingham. It is only a short drive to great mountain biking, hiking, camping, hunting, fishing and horseback riding. For the more adventurous amongst us, it is only a few hours to the Great Smokey Mountains.

Whether you want to get a tasty beverage after work or to dance the night away, there is no shortage of nightlife in Birmingham. Favorites of the UAB residents are establishments in the 5 Points and Lakeview areas.
Traveling to Fun
The beaches of Alabama’s gulf coast and the Florida coastline and hiking and camping in the Great Smoky Mountains are each only 4 hours away.
